Who I am

I’m Damian Maldonado, an American entrepreneur and businessman of Puerto Rican descent, best known as the founder of American Financing, one of the most successful privately held national mortgage companies in the U.S.

I’ve also founded a Colorado real estate company called American Home Agents, and most recently purchased and begun managing a hotel, restaurant, and kiteboarding school in Puerto Rico. Where I’m from

I was born in Manhattan, NY, to a single mother of 4. I didn’t receive a formal education. I instead chose the School of Hard Knocks, and I have no regrets. It wasn’t always my dream to reach such high success. That came after burying my head in books, and there have been thousands of them.  I definitely credit author Tony Robbins’ book Awaken the Giant Within as my inspiration to set and reach my goals.

Tony’s book taught me that combining intense curiosity, a positive attitude, and deliberate action was the path to achieving anything. It got me thinking and got me focused. Since then, I’ve kept a daily success journal. That journal keeps me grounded, yet ambitious. It also helps me define my values and achieve my dreams.

My values are family, purpose, ambition, growth, balance, and (always) adventure.
